Surrendered shelter dog is reunited with her puppies

The Marin Humane Society, located in Novato California, helped ease one dog's fears after she was abandoned at the shelter within weeks of giving birth to her puppies. In the video below watch as the scared dog, named Cora, hides behind a kennel until her puppies arrive. Her relief and joy is apparent as she jumps around, inspects each dog, and even runs into a carrier to check for more puppies.
According to the Marin Humane Society, the owners of Cora and a male dog (likely the father of the puppies) surrendered them to the shelter. When the workers realized she had recently given birth to puppies, they searched for the family that left her in order to retrieve them.

"After some detective work and a lot of convincing, our team was able to get the person who surrendered the dogs to also surrender the puppies, as they still needed their momma and were not in a safe situation," according to the Marin Humane Society.
On the video, the mother dog appears to be searching for more puppies after she is reunited with four, but the Humane Society said they believe they got all of the puppies from the former owners.
The Humane Society believes the puppies are Chi (a Chihuahua mix). The Chihuahua is one of the most common dogs abandoned by their owners, according to iheartdogs.
Earlier this month, Marin Humane Society posted an update informing everyone that the adult dogs and the puppies are all doing well. The staff named all of the puppies after Downton Abbey characters including Carson, Moseley, Branson and Edith.
