Wife of a police officer honors slain cops with litter of puppies

Tracey McMenamy loves dogs. She's a foster parent for the dog rescue organization Paws for Homes, and last month one of her dogs gave birth to a litter of 10 beautiful puppies. McMenamy is also the wife of a police officer, a cop who has served for over 12 years. With the new litter before her, McMenamy decided to honor law enforcement everywhere by naming each of the puppies after slain officers.
Being a police officer is one of the most dangerous jobs in the country. According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, over 120 officers were killed in the line of duty in 2015 alone.

The dogs are not able to be adopted from Paws for Homes until April 23, but several of the puppies have already been claimed by the families of the officers they were meant to honor. The families of slain officers Leotta, Colson, and Guindon each adopted puppies from McMenany.

With the internal scars these dogs carry from their fighting days, you'd never expect them to make friends the very first time they're introduced. Amazing story!
